SUNSHINE BOOTH

☀️ Sunshine Booth – “Let Your Bear Enjoy the Sun”

Goal of the Booth | Help children learn how sunshine supports healthy, active living while celebrating safe, joyful outdoor time with their bears.

Bible Verse | “Truly the light is sweet, and it is pleasant for the eyes to behold the sun.” — Ecclesiastes 11:7

Booth Setup

  • Set out the provided sunshine materials and sunray stickers.
  • Have pens or ultra-fine permanent markers available for families to write on their sunrays.
  • Make sure there is enough space for families to sit or stand together while completing the activity.
  • Have star stickers ready for the passport activity.

How the Booth Runs

  • Welcome children and families warmly to the booth.
  • Talk briefly about how sunshine and outdoor time can be part of a healthy lifestyle.
  • Invite families to think about things they enjoy doing together outside in the sunshine.
  • Give each family up to five sunray stickers.
  • Invite children and parents to write one favorite outdoor activity on each sunray. Activities might include playing outside, riding bikes, going for a walk, gardening, swimming, playing a sport, or having a picnic.
  • Invite families to place their completed sunrays around the sun circle in the Sunshine section of their Bear Health Passport, creating their own “sun” filled with activities their family enjoys.
  • Use the activity to encourage families to think about ways they can spend more healthy, active time outdoors together.
  • Remind families to enjoy sunshine safely by using appropriate sun protection, drinking water, and taking breaks when needed.
  • When the activity is complete, place a star sticker on the child’s completion circle in their passport.

Conversation Starters

Use simple questions like:

  • “What is your favorite thing to do outside?”
  • “What makes being outside fun for your family?”
  • “What is something your family likes to do together in the sunshine?”
  • “Which outdoor activity would your bear like best?”
  • “Is there something new you would like to try outside as a family?”
