As a conference family, we are stepping forward with renewed faith and expectation. Through Pentecost 2025, God moved powerfully across western Washington, resulting in 859 baptisms—the highest number in Washington Conference history. This season has reminded us that when God’s people pray, unite, and step into mission, the Holy Spirit works in extraordinary ways. Pentecost 2026 builds on this momentum, calling us to mobilize more people, strengthen our churches, and continue trusting God to do even greater things.
In light of this ongoing mission, Washington Conference will transition beginning in 2026 from a single annual Camp Meeting to a series of district convocations held throughout the year. This decision follows a season of prayer, careful listening, and conference-wide feedback, along with reflection on long-term attendance trends. District convocations allow more members, families, and congregations to gather closer to home while continuing to center our meetings on worship, learning, fellowship, evangelism, and spiritual renewal. Frequently Asked Questions
Why is Washington Conference moving away from a single annual Camp Meeting?
Over time, Camp Meeting attendance has steadily declined, making it increasingly difficult to offer the experience many remember and cherish. After a season of prayer, listening, and conference-wide feedback, leadership recognized a growing desire for gatherings that are more accessible, relational, and closer to home. This transition was made thoughtfully, with care for our shared history and a clear focus on advancing the mission God has given us.
What is a regional convocation, and how is it different from Camp Meeting?
Regional convocations are Sabbath-centered gatherings held in different areas of the conference throughout the year. While they may look different in size and format, they continue to focus on worship, spiritual renewal, learning, fellowship, and evangelism. By meeting regionally, more families, seniors, and congregations can participate without extensive travel, allowing for deeper local connection and broader involvement.
Will these convocations still emphasize spiritual renewal and evangelism?
Yes. At the heart of each convocation is the same desire that has guided Camp Meeting for generations: to seek a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit. As we move from Pentecost 2025 into Beyond Pentecost 2026, these gatherings are designed to strengthen faith, mobilize members, and support the ongoing work of evangelism and discipleship across western Washington.
How will this change help more people participate in the mission of the church?
Holding multiple regional gatherings throughout the year creates more opportunities for people to engage—whether through worship, prayer, learning, or service—without the barriers of long-distance travel or extended time away from home. This model allows the conference to steward resources wisely while expanding access to meaningful spiritual experiences and equipping more members to participate actively in God’s mission.
I made an advance payment for the 2026 camp meeting. Can I get reimbursed?
Yes, you can get reimbursed. Please contact Ashley Beardsley from our treasury department to process your reimbursement (guests@waconference.org).
