Additional Living Building Added to Auburn Adventist Academy
By Enoc Garcia, Washington Conference communication director
Exciting news for the Auburn Adventist Academy community! We are thrilled to announce the upcoming renovation of Gibson Hall, which will soon be converted into additional housing. This historic building is set to undergo a significant transformation to meet the growing needs of our community.
The project is currently in the planning and permitting stage, with design plans completed and awaiting city approval. This process is anticipated to take approximately six months, followed by an estimated one year of construction. One of the critical steps already accomplished is the removal of asbestos, ensuring the safety and well-being of future residents. Additionally, the building will receive new structural support and reinforced walls to enhance its durability and longevity.
The renovation plans for Gibson Hall are designed to create 15 new apartments, with five apartments on each floor. These apartments will provide affordable housing options with minimal maintenance responsibility, making them an ideal choice for school personnel, Washington Conference employees, and members of the surrounding Adventist community.
Security and accessibility have been paramount in the planning process. Renters will be provided with an access code to enter through a secure gate, ensuring a safe and private environment for the school. A thorough vetting process, including background checks for all residents, will be implemented to maintain the integrity and safety of the school community.
The renovation project is being spearheaded by Greg Gratias, our dedicated general contractor, who brings extensive experience and a commitment to excellence. We are confident that under his leadership, Gibson Hall will be transformed into a modern, comfortable living space that meets the highest standards of quality and safety.
For more information about this exciting project, please contact Stan Perry, the Washington Conference property manager. He will be happy to provide additional details and answer any questions you may have.
Stay tuned for updates as we move forward with this transformative project. We look forward to welcoming new residents to the beautifully renovated Gibson Hall and enhancing the sense of community at Auburn Adventist Academy.
