If you’ve ever vacationed to Disneyland, did you notice that everyone who works there is called a cast member?

If you are serving cotton candy, you are a cast member. If you are running one of the amusement rides, you are a cast member. If you are the person in the Mickey Mouse costume, you are also a cast member. And if you are one of the many janitors, you are also a cast member.

What does that designation mean? It means that everyone there is on a grand stage and while on that grand stage they are focused on one thing: To ensure that the visitors that come each day have the best possible time that they can have.

Many of the janitors are trained to not only provide clean spaces, but they are also trained to entertain. For example, one of the ways janitors entertain is by drawing pictures with water of Mickey Mouse or other characters on the pavement outside of where they have cleaned.

To me this is what walking with Christ is all about: daily drawing pictures of Jesus whatever our profession.

Each of us have talents and abilities that can draw pictures of Jesus to those we meet and interact with. Each of us, in simple and complex ways, can draw pictures of Jesus that will help people know that we care about them and encourage them to know more about what a daily relationship with Jesus looks like. Each Christian is empowered by God to be a “cast member” who will be drawing that daily picture of Christ.

Galatians 6:9-10 states:

Let us determine to do good to all people. Let us determine to do good to the people in our own churches. Let us determine to do good not matter what. By doing so, we are drawing another picture of Jesus. This is God’s casting call to us.
