The word covenant is an old word that isn’t used much today.

It simply means an agreement. It is a word that you often see in legal documents such as lease agreements, homeowner association agreements, and more.

Our homeowner association is currently in a bit of turmoil mainly caused by one homeowner who maybe enjoys confrontation a bit too much. As a result, the HOA is having to review the homeowner covenants to make sure every rule is being followed to keep peace in the neighborhood. It will be interesting to see how it all turns out.

God also entered a covenant with the world when it was determined that a path would be made for our sins to be forgiven and have the assurance of salvation.

That covenant was with the world, but it was also a personal covenant with each person who is willing to enter into that agreement with God. When you enter the agreement, you turn over all aspects of your life to Him. Everything is already God’s, but when we enter into that agreement, we are acknowledging that everything is His.

Sometimes we find ourselves in turmoil with the different things that happen in this evil world.

It happens to all of us. If during those times we reviewed the covenant we have with God, we would find that it brings peace as we realize God is in control. When times are good, we can also know we are in a wonderful relationship with God.

He wants us to give Him every area of our lives.

Our health when it is good and when it faces challenges. Our jobs when it is going well and when there are challenges. Our families when we rejoice and when we weep. Our bank accounts when they are full and when they are empty.

God’s covenant with us is the same in the good times and the bad. He simply asks us to not rob Him of the opportunity to pour out blessings on us as we lean totally on Him. Blessings come in all forms, but the greatest blessing of all is the spiritual blessing that comes from turning control of every aspect of our lives to God.

Let us all commit to this covenant agreement with God—that we turn over by faith every aspect of our lives to Him and let Him open the windows of heaven.

Bring all the tithes into the storehouse,

That there may be food in My house,

And try Me now in this,”

Says the Lord of hosts,

“If I will not open for you the windows of heaven

And pour out for you such blessing

That there will not be room enough to receive it.

Malachi 3:10 (NKJV)
