Community on Campus
By John Leis, Washington Conference public campus ministry director
The college campus is one of the most diverse and dynamic mission fields of our time.
It is a place where young adults are exploring life, truth, and purpose, often for the first time outside their home environment. As a pastor and campus ministry director, I have had the privilege of walking alongside students in these pivotal moments through Adventist Christian Fellowship (ACF).
At ACF, we believe that every student on campus deserves the opportunity to know Jesus and experience His love in a personal way.
It is our mission to provide a space where faith can flourish amid the challenges of academic life. Because of generous giving, we have been able to rent a home near campus where students can find community. We have been told to “Go and make disciples” and by moving near campus, we are hoping to fulfill that command.
On October 1st we held our first of many weekly meals with our students.
We are excited for what this year will bring and for opportunities to establish more ACF groups on college campuses across western Washington. I invite you to join me in this incredible mission field. Whether you are a parent, a church leader, or someone with a heart for young people, there are countless ways to support this work—through prayer, financial contributions, or even volunteering with your local ACF chapter.
Together, we can ensure that the light of Christ shines brightly on every campus.
To students who are reading this: stay strong in your faith. The world may present countless distractions but remember that you are part of a greater story. God has placed you on your campus for a reason. Stay connected to your spiritual community, seek out opportunities to grow in your faith, and don’t be afraid to share Jesus with others. You are not alone—ACF is here to walk with you every step of the way.
