EXERCISE BOOTH

🏃 Exercise Booth – “Make Your Bear Move!”

Goal of the Booth | Help children learn that movement and exercise help keep our bodies strong and healthy.

Bible Verse | “Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.”
— Hebrews 12:1–2

Booth Setup

  • Use the provided materials to set up the Bear Obstacle Course on the tables.
  • Make sure the course pieces are clearly visible and easy for children to follow.

Obstacle Course Directions

  • Long lines = fingers run / bear runs
  • Short lines or dots = bear jumps
  • Curved or zig-zag lines = bear moves carefully through the path

How the Booth Runs

  • Welcome children and families warmly to the booth.
  • Invite children to guide their bear through the obstacle course while parents “run” alongside using their fingers like running legs.
  • Encourage families to move through the different parts of the course together.
  • After the obstacle course, guide families through a short exercise routine together.
  • Encourage cheering, laughter, and movement throughout the activity.
  • When the activity is complete, place a star sticker on the child’s completion circle in their passport.

Short Exercise Routine | Guide families through a few simple movements:

  • March in place — 30 seconds
  • Jumping jacks — 20 seconds
  • Bear stretches — reach arms high to the sky
  • Bear jumps — 10 small jumps
  • Deep breathing — 3 slow deep breaths together

Conversation Starters | Use simple questions like:

  • “What is your favorite way to move your body?”
  • “What games do you like to play outside?”
  • “How does your body feel after you exercise?”
  • “How can your bear stay strong and active?”

Key Teaching Points | Volunteers can naturally share simple facts like:

  • Exercise helps keep our hearts, muscles, and bones strong.
  • Moving our bodies gives us energy and helps us feel happy.
  • Playing outside and staying active are healthy for our bodies.
  • Exercise can be fun when we do it together with family and friends.
  • Even small amounts of movement each day help our bodies stay healthy.

Key Teaching Point | Remind families: “Moving our bodies every day helps keep us strong and healthy!”

Volunteer Tips

  • Keep the booth energetic, upbeat, and encouraging.
  • Cheer families on as they move through the course.
  • Encourage parents to participate alongside their children.
  • Keep lines moving while making each child feel included and celebrated.
