Have you heard of the blue dot plague? Until recently, I didn’t know of this phenomenon. When a person goes online to purchase a ticket for a concert or sporting event, they usually see all the available seats in the venue that are open for purchase. Many times, they are marked with a blue dot.
The blue dot plague is when a concert or event is coming to town and there are many blue dots still available because people are not purchasing tickets. Times are hard, and ticket prices have gone up. One article listed a number of concerts by well-known artists that had been canceled due to poor ticket sales. The cancellation was attributed to the blue dot plague happening in this nation as people, with different and changing priorities, are not buying tickets.
In reflecting on the article, I thought of this world as a very small part of this massive universe. To this small place in the universe, Jesus came, not as a concert artist or a sporting event. Jesus came to save. Jesus came to seek and save the lost, who had nothing with which to buy their own salvation (Luke 19:10).
A great part of the story is that Jesus would have come even if the whole world was filled with blue dots except for one. Jesus didn’t cancel and would not have canceled because of a bunch of blue dots. He was coming no matter what. He was coming if it meant saving just one.
